Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heat:🔥🔥🔥🔥 Origin: UK. Happy belated Halloween. This sauce was a last minute collab between two artisan makers based here in the UK @brightonhotstuff and @lazyferments. So let's see what this spicy and spooky little mixture does to our senses!
_ 👁 It looks like most of the Brighton Hot Stuff range. Tasteful and almost recycled or natural in appearance. I know this was a last minute stroke of inspiration but I would have liked to have seen more of a nod to the Halloween theme! _ 👃 It smells like spiced pumpkin soup. Lovely and savoury with a sting at the back of your nose. I can detect the chillies and there's quite a mix of them in here... it's leaving me excited to give it a taste. _ 👅 Wow. There is a lot going on there! It starts with a little sweetness from the pumpkin and then gives way to the characteristic tang of any ferment. The pink Himalayan salt then produces a lovely savour base with the actual flavour of the pumpkin coming in last. The heat is slow building and lingers, that will be the reapers. It really is lovely. My only slight criticism is that I would have liked to detect more of the spices. They're there but not massively prominent. _ 👫 This would be wonderful with a mix of seasonal roast veg to add that little bit of extra excitement and time bomb like building kick. _ 🍕 it's a great consistency. There's a little separation but that's all natural, especially with fermented sauces. Overall an absolute winner for me.
