Hot Sauce Review: Crazy Bastard Carolina Reaper and Blueberry Sauce

Updated: Dec 3, 2019

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heat:🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I picked up this cheeky little number during my recent tasting at @hopburnsblack. I believe this is one of my first hailing from Berlin, Germany. I'm excited to try this as I know there's loads of really great food there! Here's @crazybsauce Carolina Reaper and Blueberry sauce.

_ 👁 Placed in a nice little bottle I love the simplicity of this. Much like the name suggests there's nothing serious about this sauce, with it's angry little mascot at the top and hilarious name. They have taken the design seriously though, it looks good, cohesive and let's you know what to expect from the brand. _ 👃 Fruity notes followed by a lovely earthy yet sweet chilli hit. You know a super hot pepper when you smell one, they don't build they 'arrive'. All at once. With anger. _ 👅 Ok it's hot, let's get that out in the open first... but that's not all it's got to offer. It's also sweet, and the flavour from the chillies is wonderful, really earthy and fragrant. The vinegar is not overpowering and it's been beautifully seasoned with the sea salt. There's not much else going on other than these flavours but it feels like there doesn't need to be. Whilst not being the hottest super hot sauce I've ever had, it's pretty punchy and the heat is natural whilst not being at the expense of the other flavours. _ 👬 The fresh sweetness of this sauce would lend itself well to burgers. Basically anything that would usually use a relish. Go easy though! _ 🍕 It's not really a dipping sauce. Shortly after pouring it started to separate due to the high chilli content, which is fine as it shows that there's no artificial nasties in there. Sprinkle this with care.
