Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ Heat:🔥🔥🔥 Onto 6 of 10 posts in collaboration with @hot_sauce_society, London's FIRST hot sauce festival! Coming this April 13th a host of hot sauce producers (including myself) will be gathering in Copeland Park, Peckham for a day celebrating the iconic condiment. I'm reviewing 10 of them, 1 per day, ahead of it and for our next trick we have @jockshotsauce and his Smoked habanero and garlic!
_ 👁 It looks like a bit of a missed opportunity. Definitely not bad as it has a nice minimal feel to it but it reminds me of a supermarket own brand design where they haven't really invested much time into making it attractive. _ 👃 It is however a delight on the nostrils. Those smoked habaneros are really powerful and give an authentic smoke that you don't get from synthetic additives, combine that with the garlic and this has me excited. _ 👅 The taste doesn't quite deliver exactly what the nose promises but it's still got character. The smoked peppers give it a really nice natural depth. I'm not much of a fan of the vinegar used though, it's harsh and doesn't have the sweetness I'd hope to find with a smokey sauce. Vinegar is to me, the most important ingredient in hot sauce on par with the chillies used, it brings everything together and is generally the dominant flavour, so needs to be great. _ 👭 Naturally this would love to be with ribs or anything else barbecued. I'd also consider using it as a glaze as the vinegar will help permeate whatever you're trying to infuse with some lovely smokey flavour. _ 🍕 In a rare occurence it's actually a little thick... at least for the bottle that it's been placed in (see video). There seems to be a tiny bit of separation too, maybe it needs just a touch more oil and a little extra blending.
