Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heat:🔥🔥 As this seems to be the week for revisiting old friends here's another from @Tomscurioussauces. Hailing from one of my favourite places in the world, Scotland, this is what I thought of his Mango & Amarillo Hot Sauce!
_ 👁 We talked about the label in my last review of his Chipotle flavour. Whilst it's definitely no where near the worst I've seen I think it needs work. The colours are cool but I think Tom needs a better logo for his name. The one at the moment is a bit basic as it's font based and could be much more visual. Get a designer on it! _ 👅 Much like before the flavour doesn't disappoint! With only a few ingredients Tom has managed to achieve a lovely balanced sauce. It's sweet hot and the turmeric compliments the mango beautifully as it has this subtle exotic depth. There's exactly the right amount of vinegar too, leaving the Amarillo chillis to shine with a pleasant comforting heat. My only criticism is that it's a little on the thin side, maybe a little more of the flesh from the mango would solve that. _ 👫 I road tested this with a spicy bean burger and home made chips (fries) and it went amazingly. It lends itself well to burgers because of the sweetness but I would also try wings or fried chicken for sure! _ 🍕 As mentioned we're a little on the thin side to be the perfect dip but I did manage to scoop a fair bit onto my chips last night so it's thick enough for that. I'd be interested to see if adjusting the consistency would affect the flavour.
